Are Oligio and Thermage FLX the same treatment?
No. Both are described as monopolar radiofrequency, but they are different device systems from different makers, with their own tips, menu items and published data. Monopolar RF is a category of energy delivery, not a single machine, so the exact device name matters when you compare quotes.
Oligio is described by its manufacturer as a 6.78 MHz monopolar RF system that sends current from a treatment tip to a return pad while cooling the epidermis. Thermage FLX, made by Solta Medical, is described as a monopolar, capacitively coupled RF system that uses a reverse thermal gradient, with surface cooling while tissue below is heated.

How do the tips and treatment areas differ?
Oligio has a smaller eye-area tip and a larger face tip. Thermage FLX lists four tips by surface size: Total Tip 4.0 cm², Total Tip 3.0 cm², Eye Tip 0.25 cm² and Body Tip 16.0 cm².
- For Thermage FLX the manufacturer lists the forehead, mid-face, lower face, jawline and under the chin, plus body areas such as the abdomen and thighs.
- Solta Medical’s professional material describes the Eye Tip as delivering shallower heating for the periorbital area and eyelids.
- An area list is not a statement that either treatment suits you. Tip, area and shot count together define a plan.

What have the published Oligio studies recorded on pain and redness?
The published numbers come from two small single-arm studies of Oligio, so they describe those cohorts and cannot rank it against another device.
- Oligio: mean pain was about 3.1 out of 10 in a 30-person cohort and about 0.4 out of 10 in a separate 20-person cohort after one session. Most redness resolved within one to two days. The studies had no control group, were industry-supported and used different settings and populations.
- If you are travelling, give the clinic your departure date before booking so the session and any check-up fit your trip.
